In this one-day tour, you will explore the beautiful colonial city of Arequipa. Known as the “White” City due to the white volcanic rock incorporated into the local architecture, Arequipa is Peru’s 2nd biggest city and one of its most beautiful. In this tour, we will visit Arequipa’s most important landmarks and embark on an open-air bus to visit the countryside – all the while enjoying incredible views of Arequipa’s giant nearby volcanoes and amazing urban and rural scenery.

Tour Itinerary

The Arequipa Day Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel or hostel around 9:00 AM. Today we will have a chance to enjoy the colonial architecture of Arequipa and then hop on an open-air bus to embark on the Arequipa countryside tour.  This tour takes us first to the Yanahuara Lookout – offering a fantastic view of the city and the three volcanoes standing guard (el Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu).

Next, we will stop at the Incan terraces at Paucarpata, and then proceed to the Sabandia Mill – which is an operational mill originally built in 1785.  We will make a quick stop at the famous “Founder Mansion,” which has been converted into a museum that display relics from Arequipa’s colonial era. We will stop for lunch at a buffet restaurant with traditional Arequipa foods before proceeding to our next stop.

Our last stop before returning you to your hotel or hostel is a visit to Santa Catalina Monastery.  Built in 1580, it is one of the oldest colonial structures in the Arequipa region.  We will conclude our day tour with a visit to Arequipa’s Colonial Main Square – a dazzling display of architecture and ingenuity - and then get you back to your hotel by 4 PM.
